Early Blues.....

I've been playing around today with my old 1800's fabrics....I bought 3 ladders back in November from Janet's shop...When I saw them I knew they'd be perfect to display my fabrics....I couldn't enjoy them with them stacked up unless I went through them....So, I spent the afternoon going through my bigger pieces and hanging them on the ladders and the big display rack i already had that I unfolded to give more display room...How I wonder if my grandmothers had dresses made from these blues...Oh, how I wish I had them or a piece of them if they did....So, what are y'all up to this new year????

Beautiful fabric. Those ladders are wonderful for display. I have old aprons that were my grams. I don't even know why I kept them. I wish I still had her dresses too. Family drama at the time so not sure what happened to them.

Such pretty blue's Jen...and those ladders are just perfect...not real bulky and big.
Wishing I had some of my gram's things like that too.

Love your blues... I am pulling what little I have back out again. One of my favorite ways with walls....racks of cloth. You always show such nice things. xoxo,Dru

Oh goodness, those are beautiful Jen!! I would probably just sit and stare at them, lol. The ladder display is just perfect for these pieces. So pretty, I had to "pin" it! =]

I just did a blog post about some old hand-quilted blocks that I am cleaning up. Do you have any advice for me? I am giving them a hot water/Dawn dish soap bath, followed by a hot rinse, then a trip to the delicate cycle of the dryer. They are holding up and seem to be fine but I was wondering how you clean your old fabrics? If you have time, I would love to hear. Thanks~

So many beautiful blues. I would have loved to have had something from my grandmother's clothes,
especially her apron.

Simply beautiful Jen! What a great idea. It is nice to see the whole piece rather than a small portion. I have fabric pieces from my great grandmothers dresses in a box. Unfortunately none of them are blue but they are still very dear to me.
