January 1, 2010

I thought I'd start out this new year of 2010 with sharing a new arrangement in my gathering room and one of my favorite decorating addictions~ primitive chairs....

For now, I'm not putting my grandmother's old trunk back in front of this window and I just have some of my primitive chairs, folk dolls, and I folded out my display rack to display some more of my stockings I made....it's a refreshing change since taking down the Christmas decor....The house seems so much bigger and clean....A fresh start for the new year...

I don't know about you, but I've been taking mental notes of new projects for the next few months....Changes and ideas on going more primitive in my decorating...This time last year I was making plans to start painting the house..Thank goodness I'm not having to think about that this year...I'm thinking this new year about stenciling....New samplers...redoing some areas....getting rid of some items and buying new....I'm going to be more selective this year in what I buy....plans on new items for my selling blog....What about you??...

Hi Jenn!
I was so glad to see you had commented on my blog!! Thanks!!
I really love your old chair display...don't they have so much "character" to them?
We have several around here that were cast off's from other family that weren't into that sort of thing like I am....I tell them if it's old and you don't want it...bring to me...I'll try to give it a home..somewhere!! LOL!!

Take Care,

I love all your new pictures Jen. Soft old colors and so serene! Your chairs are wonderful I have a few myself and love them!

Lots of changes here too. I spent the last 2 days purging and taking stuff away. I am too old for too much clutter and so I am decluttering my spaces. I am going to be much more selective about what I display. I have been give many things that aren't me and someone else will benefit from them now. I'd like to be painting woodwork and cabinets but Mr. Red Door is still resisting. So that is not happening - yet! LOL

Looking forward to seeing where your changes take you my friend!

I love old chairs, too and yours look great! I need to get busy putting away all my Christmas stuff today - it takes hours but I do love how fresh the house looks when it's all done. Although - I do think my house is at its prettiest when it is all dressed for Christmas. But the de-cluttering does feel good.

I love your new arrangements Jen....I so wish I had room to do that! Our rooms are all doorways, not many solid walls.
Can't wait to see the rest of your re-do.
Happy New Year

Love your new corner, Jen. I think we are all thinking alike at this time- new beginnings. I, too, have been contemplating what I want to get done this year, working on designing some new cross stitch pieces, stitching ones that I have not done yet, some 'new' furniture pieces, shelves, benches, boxes...my dear hubs got me some great presents for Christmas to get a little wood shop going in the basement! Can't wait to see what other things you are up to this New Year!

Hi Jen, I remember when you were just beginning to blog. Now I find you everywhere I turn. I'd say you ReaLLy got the hang of it, LOL. To top it off, yesterday I was on A Primitive Place looking at all the beautiful homes. I started looking at one and thought how much it looked like your beautiful home. Then I realized - IT WAS YOURS!

I love what you've done in your gathering room. The chairs look really good in a group like that. I like how you have the dolls holding a pillow, a basket.. very cute idea!

I know what you mean about the house feeling much bigger and cleaner. That's what I thought after I took all my Christmas down. Definitely a good time to re-arrange and re-think a few things.

Well I wish we weren't, but we're getting ready to make plans to paint our house-- the outside. I guess we are going to tackle it ourselves. Yikes! I love painting my rooms, but not sure I want to be on a ladder. I guess that can be my hubby's job. Gotta get it done!

I have always adored the primitive and colonial look. My husband however, has not. When we got together he was more modern. Slowly over the years I have transformed him into seeing the natural beauty in the prim look. So I finally have the "okay" to go primitive!!! I am SO excited! That's my plan for this year. =]
