Goodwill Goodies!!

I go to the Goodwill and I HARDLY EVER find anything but maybe some baskets and the kitchen set I got Luke to play with...I'm usually disappointed, so I don't go often...Maybe twice a year at most....But on this particular day, several weeks ago, before I got sick, Tim wanted to go while we were out....They now have anything that is made of wood grouped together...I walked around the corner and I stopped in my tracks...I looked as several people were going through the items....First I spotted wooden bowls...I NEVER find wooden bowls!!!...So I grabbed them and probably would have fought off ANYONE who tried to take them from me...LOL...Then I grabbed some more smaller bowls...As the women were watching me grab up my wood items in one big swoop I spotted these!!!...I've always wanted some and have looked at them often, but it's one of those things you think about buying, but never do...As I walked down the aisle, Tim met me at the end....The BIGGEST smile spread across my face....I had finally found some goodies at Goodwill!!!..So here are the before and after pics!!..I see some wax fruit in them!!!..I like the look of one sitting on the other!!..Whatcha think???......Until next time~~hugs, Jen

Great finds Jen! It's always hit or miss at the thrift stores near me. There are 2 that I go to and everything is 25% off on Mondays and Thursdays.

Great finds!
I have a couple of those too...and guess what? Painted them the same color as you! Great minds think alike =)
I took the base off of my square one and used it as a bowl with bowl fillers and a beeswax electric candle.
There are so many uses for them...I like your idea with wax fruit!
Have a great evening...and I am so glad that you found something!

Way to go Jen! I LOOOOOOVE to find great wooden pieces for pennies! My local GW usually doesn't have much either- I'll pick up a few baskets, maybe a crock or some odd things- once in awhile a really good find. My favorite TS is 40 minutes away, but I ALWAYS find wooden items there (they have a whole section of wood). I just posted this morning on the huge bread board I refinished- if you haven't seen it- check it out...you will never believe what it looked like to start! lol

Hi Jen,
What a great finds!!
I like them stacked. Great idea.
I giggled when reading your post because I could just picture you snatching and grabing up the goodies as fast as you could!! LOL!!
I had an experience a lot like that at TJ Maxx a couple of months ago. People were looking at me like I was nuts!! LOL!! But I just knew another Prim Nut was going to run up and take them b4 I could get it all in my cart!! Hehee!
I went to GW today. I didnt get anything as good as you but I did pick up a few things. Im in the process of working on them right now and will be post B4 and After soon on my blog.
Okay, Guess Ive babbled on long enough!!
Have a wonderful evening and enjoy your wonderful finds!!

Great finds, every day is harder to find good wood items in the TS & GW in my area. You did a great bargain.

I painted it black and stained...Not sure how to finish it off...I'd like to try something other than a satin varnish....hmmmm...

They look great, what was your technique in making them look old?
I am thinking of doing the same thing to some old shelves that I have...Good job on your finds!

Hi Leslie!..I just painted them sloppy so some places didn't get covered...Simple!..I DON'T like to do difficult painting and I've learned after years of painting for craft shows that sloppy painting in primitives gives me the look I want...

How lucky, and I'm like you, I never seem to find a "deal" or good stuff, just over priced "really" junk. I guess you have to be at the right time. Thoughs are really neat, and I hope to have some good finds this spring.
Have a great day, and best of luck to your finds.

Wonderful job on the bowls! I like them together, but I also like them separate. The beauty of it is that you can rearrange and have it all!

I get excited like that when I find a treasure too! I just know people think I'm crazy, but it doesn't take much for me... I delight in the simple pleasures of a great find!

I'm sure no matter what you decide to do with them, they will look lovely!
