My newly decorated fireplace mantel.............

Here it is...I had it simple with just some wooden bowls and my candles, along with my candle stick and candle mold...But I got asked numerous times when Taylor would pass through the room "Mom, is that all you're going to put on the mantle?"...I wanted it simple for a while...But being asked soooo many times I decided I needed to add some other things, but still keep it simple...I painted the frame black, but not sure if it is too much and maybe I should have left it brown...I will live with it for a while...My mantle is my hardest area to decorate...I'm hardly ever satisfied with what I do to it for long....Until next time!!!~~hugs, Jen

Hi Jen...well I for one love it like this...the gourds are so striking there.
I tried them on my fireplace quite awhile ago and it didn't look right...but it works on yours...what's up with that...lol
Very nice Jen.

It looks wonderful, warm and homey. I like prim, but like to feel like home and not a store, your home is all that.

Hi Jen I always love your mantel...no one is ever satisfied with their own stuff. I have the same problem with mine too. Am always tweaking. Look forward to seeing more of your home!

What is it about mantels?
Mine drive me crazy too.
I have changed my kitchen mantel three times in the past two weeks, and I still don't love it!
I have the same problem with my kitchen window.

I think it looks great too, but I know what you mean. My woodstove is in the corner so that means my mantle is on a 45. Very hard to decorate, as the stove pipe is always in the way and the logs stick out so I can't put anything very deep on the ledge. I love yours in blue and the gourds look wonderful and I do like the black frame! Jayne

I think it looks positively perfect! Oh...if only I had a mantel!! You really have that certain touch...I love all of your painted stacked boxes also! You should do a tutorial for those!

Jen, I think your mantel looks great. I love the gourds...that is such a nice touch. I love simple as well, but for my house, I don't like it to be too bare. I think your mantel looks balanced, not too busy, and it looks homey! Hugs~Rachel
