Should I or shouldn't I?????????????

Paint my faux fireplaces?...They have always been this pretty deep red...But I was really into red then..I decorated with red and had red kitchen cabinets....Not too much red in my house anymore..My love of blue has replaced all my reds for 14 years now....I do have some red primitive lights and a lantern, but that is to tie the red of the fireplaces in with my decor...So, I'm thinking a primitive sanded antiqued black or charcoal....I want to do it...But it makes me nervous because these have never been any other color....I'm not good at change..lol..So what are your thoughts????

  1. Hi Jen,
I think it looks great red But I also think it would look great black.
I say, give it a try!!
If you don't like it, you can always paint in red again.

My Mom is making me another one, this time for my Master bedroom. I am going to paint it black.

Can't wait to hear what you decide.

    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Tam

  2. Paint it! I am with Tammy, you can always paint it red again if you regret it but I believe you will like the change once you do it.
If not black how about to match your cabinets again.
    Change can be good.

  3. I have to agree with Tammmy and Audrey. I think it would look great black. I was truthfully thinking it might look good painted an aged blue. Is black and gray your only two choices?

I think painting it black will make a great backdrop and cause everything surrounding it stand out. I say go for it!

  9. Looks great red, but I love black! It's only paint...if you don't love the black you can always try something else. Go for it!

  10. Hi Jen,
Change is always good and if you don't like it...it's only paint and can easily be changed. I like the idea of the distressed black, but blue would even be cute to tie in with all your adorable blue stuff. In my opinion, if you love a color (which you love blue) you can't have too much of it! : )

  11. I used a lot of blue in our home for many years, but red is my favorite color, so I absolutely love your red fireplace. Our tastes do change and I think you should go with your heart. The fireplace would look great in black.

  12. Hey, What can I say you have so many comments on this!
I say Black, but I love Black & I mean I love Black!
My fireplace mantel is the Black over cranberry and I just love it!
This is what I do trying to decide: lie in bed thinking, sleep on it think a couple of days sometimes turns into months, then it hits me & I am sure: that inner self that says yep that is it:exactly what I want to do!
good luck on the decision & i can't wait to see what you decide stay or change?
    Have fun with it!

  13. I believe that you should always follow your heart. Black would be a very nice neutral color and would be a nice back-drop for your other things. You could still have a little red here and there. After all, like most everyone else has said.....it's just a little paint!

  14. Hey, at the end of the day your the one that has to live with it...
I personaly love color! I have red, blue, mustard, black, you name it.... Back in the day they lived with what they had, and it didn't all match!!!
But I'm a red fan that's why my dry-sink went red!
I think they look fabulous just the way they are!

  16. Hi Jen - I agree too - black would be nice. But I need to change things often - I think it was from growing up in a military family - always moving!
