I don't like seeing seasonal candy out with the exception of Christmas candy....So, several years ago and last year I made these primitive candy boxes for that purpose...

The Goode Wife is a design by Pamela of Our Pioneer Homestead blog
It is one of her freebies...

The sweet cabin is a Jenny Hoffman design of Country Rustic Primitives...

The Trick or Treat is my design....

Do you hide your candy or do you display it???

I have old candy jars on my counter and that is where I keep it... I usually have something there all year round.... I try to buy candy I don't particularly care for, so I don't eat it all myself. But it's been hard to find something in that category that I don't like!!
Happy Halloween!

Are the designs stitched on fabric and then glued to the box lids. A unique idea that I like very much.

Very nice boxes. We usually do not keep candy out in the open, as granddaughter and great-nephew will gorge on it, lol! The boxes are a festive way to keep the candy. 'Will have to try that :)

THANK YOU Ladies!! So good to hear from each of you!! Yes, Karen I stitch them and then glue them to the box...That is just how I do it.

I really like your boxes. Are they papermache? I painted one paper mache box and then waxed it with Annie Sloan dark wax. Perhaps I will find a cross stitch design to put on top of it. Definitely will put the Halloween candy in it this year following your idea. I would like to find unfinished wood boxes to paint and will have to search on the internet some time soon. Thank you for your inspiration! Karen from North Carolina
